PLAZAS of the WEST TOUR.June 9 - 17, 2013
You asked for it so here it is . . . my new, favorite tour ! I can’t wait ! This premium tour, takes us West to some of the most beautiful landscapes this country has to offer. We’ll visit the Plaza in Albuquerque’s Old Town. As we travel down the narrow streets, you’ll be able to shop and dine where Albuquerque began. We’ll travel to the top of Sandia Peak, where no matter the time of day, the view is breathtaking. You will see Albuquerque below, as well as extinct volcanoes 100 miles in the distance.
The next day we’ll visit the most unique Indian Pueblo I’ve ever seen in all of our travels. We want you to experience Acomo Sky City, too. You’ll enjoy our guided tour of the ancient pueblo village atop a 367-foot sandstone bluff. Our guide will tell us about the tribe as it was in the old days, as well as now. You’ll see where the Indians live and make their crafts. This is a must see stop on this premium tour. There will be time to shop at the Gaits’i Gift Shop for beautiful Native American jewelry and Acoma pottery.
We’ll travel through the mountains and canyons of Arizonia to arrive in Sedona, AZ late afternoon, in time to see the sunset below the red rock canyons. It is beautiful ! You gotta see this place ! Located in Arizona's high desert under the towering southwestern rim of the vast Colorado Plateau, the city of Sedona is blessed with four mild seasons marked by abundant sunshine and clean air. The city of Sedona, one of Arizona's premier tourism, recreation, resort, retirement and art centers, was incorporated in 1988. Historically, it was a rural ranching community located far off the beaten path, but its’ unsurpassed natural beauty became nationally known through the motion picture industry. Today, commercials and television shows still are filmed in the unsettled areas surrounding this city, which annually attracts more than 4 million tourists from around the world. The next morning we’ll tour the local area stopping at the Chapel of the Holy Cross, as well as other great photo stops.
Next, we’re headed to Santa Fe where we have accommodations on the Plaza in downtown Santa Fe. Our historic hotel is a Santa Fe landmark; the La Fonda Hotel. Stroll out the front door and you’ll have everything available to you, right on the Plaza. We’ll tour the city, arts district, residential area and more, with time for you to explore and shop on your own. On the north side of the Plaza is the Palace of the Governors which now chronicles the history of Santa Fe and New Mexico. New Mexico Indians use their sidewalk as their market place to sell their crafts & pottery. At the end of the Santa Fe Trail, a short block off the plaza, is the Loretto Chapel. Two mysteries surround the spiral staircase in the Loretto Chapel: the identity of its builder and the physics of its construction. Over the years many have flocked to the Loretto Chapel to see the Miraculous Staircase. The staircase has been the subject of many articles, TV specials, and movies including "Unsolved Mysteries" and the television movie titled "The Staircase."
We’ll travel up the Rio Grande River road to Taos, NM to see the uniqueness of their plaza and city. We’ll discover the beauty, the culture, the people that make Taos and Northern New Mexico the Land of Enchantment. Seated on the high-desert mesa at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Taos is rich with art and steeped in history. Home to Taos Pueblo, the Village of Taos Ski Valley and a colorful array of surrounding communities, Taos County has something for everyone.

When you see this Gothic Revival masterpiece, you'll find he’s accomplished that and more.
