Canadian Rockies by Rail

A valid Passport is required for this tour.  Our flight from Shreveport takes us to  Vancouver , Alberta , Canada .  You’ll enjoy a sightseeing tour of  Vancouver beginning at beautiful Stanley Park , Canada ’s renowned urban rainforest, and continues to Chinatown, the citys’ waterfront, Gastown, a turn of the century center comprised of pubs, art galleries , boutiques and the world famous steam powered clock, the most photographed subject in all of Vancouver .  This evening we’ll board VIA Rail’s, The Canadian to begin your journey to the majestic Canadian Rockies.  Relive train travel in the days of old as you are rocked to sleep tonight in your private accommodations.  In the morning, enjoy a hot breakfast in the dining car as you whisk past mountain peaks and cascading waterfalls.  Enjoy 360-degree views of glistening glaciers and rushing rivers while you search for moose, mountain goats, bears and caribou.  You’ll settle into Fairmont’s Jasper Park Lodge, for two nights, nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, at the gateway to the incredible Icefields Parkway.  You’ll begin your next day with a dramatic trip to Maligne Canyon, one of Jasper’s most spectacular landmarks. An *optional cruise is available this afternoon on Maligne Lake , the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies. Next, you’ll journey down the unforgettable Icefields Parkway en route to Lake Louise .  Have your camera ready !  Enjoy a stop at Athabaska Falls to marvel at its sheer beauty and power.  At the Columbia Icefields, you’ll enjoy a fun ride across a mass of glacial ice over 1,000 feet thick.  Enjoy a stop a Peyto Lake, a turquoise glacier-fed lake that evokes pure serenity – before arriving at the world-famous Chateau Lake Louise for an overnight stay. (* an optional lakeview room upgrade is available!)  The balance of the day is yours to enjoy the grand views of Lake Louise .  The next day en route to Banff , you’ll view spectacular Moraine Lake and the awe inspiring Valley of Ten Peaks , a jagged, saw-toothed mountain range standing out amidst stunning Alpine scenery.  Upon arrival in Banff , you’ll visit a local ammonite specialist to learn about this rare gemstone found only in Alberta , Canada .  You’ll spend two nights at the grand Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, known as the “Castle in the Mountains”.  The next day includes a scenic drive through Banff featuring the powerful Bow Falls and impressive Hoodoos – known as the “Land of the Sleeping Giants”. Your afternoon at leisure gives you time to explore on your own or shop the many quaint stores in Banff .  Next, you’ll head to the cosmopolitan city of Calgary , for the final stop on your scenic adventure. This evening we’ll enjoy a farewell dinner with our new friends and acquaintances and memories of a Canadian Rockies Adventure. *Optional excursions & accommodations require additional fees.
